Basically a smaller-displacement version of the 916 is Ducati 748 is an Italian sports motorcycle manufactured by Ducati from 1994 to 2002. It was succeeded by the Ducati 749.

Ducati 748

The 748 made a surprise debut at the International Bike Show in 1997. Identical in every way to the 916, only the bore and stroke of the engine is different at 88 x 61.5 to create the 748cc that gives the name. Ducati showed up with one screaming-yellow single-seater, a price tag, and that’s it. The shorter stroke of the engine compared to the 916 gave a much higher rev ceiling of 11,500rpm and the smaller pistons help the engine to spin up quicker.

Ducati-748 in Yellow

Ducati 748 History
Ducati produced several variations of the 748, starting with the basic 748 twin seat in 1994 and then the 1995-96 748SP and 1996-99 748SPS followed as more powerful options. Engine mods are to allow engine tuning within the supersport rules. High Compression Pistons fitted as standard (although if you check the specs they only list at 0.2:1 different, the hi-comp pistons mean with the squish set correctly (factory is always out) you get a far better CR, (just under 12:1). In 1997-1999 Ducati launches the new 748 model with new changes that is Replaced SP in 1998. Now get twin pin Brembo calipers, 98 style graphics with just ‘DUCATI‘ on the side fairing and no tank graphics. SP Steel rods replaced by SPS Titanium rods (NOT race rods, the same design as the BP rod but made from ti.) IMO not as good as the SP Rods but this allowed the crank to be very slightly lighter to balance.

Ducati in Black

Ducati 748E (2000-2003)
•	2002 – Fairing design change (now without the side vents, like 998 ) and new exhaust system for E and S models – the exhaust is the same size but without link pipe (all in one) so if you wanted to fit anything other than just 45mm termis (45mm to 50mm for example) then you needed to replace the full system.
•	2001 - Fitted with the Testa-Basa motor (not testastretta!) difference is simply the stepped heads on the exhaust cams side- allowing the same head casting to be used for S4 monster and 748 (exhaust cam is lower in the head to miss the front wheel of the monster). E chassis same as 2000 BIP model but now with grey 3 spoke wheels and grey frame.
•	The BIP was replaced by the E model, actually downgrading the Showa rear shock with a cheaper unit and also losing the adjustable steering head on the BP, which had both road and track settings.
Production of the 748 officially ended in 2003 and it was available to purchase alongside the 749 which replaced it, until dealer stocks were exhausted.

The YZF-R1 is a legend of the Super-Sport world. Yamaha launched the YZF-R1 after redesigning the Genesis engine to offset the crankshaft, gearbox input and output shafts. The R1’s performance is electrifying and yet what makes this motorcycle truly remarkable is its superbly rider-friendly character because Yamaha’s avant-garde, race-bred technology puts you confidently in control. This is a high performance machine with all the control you’ll ever need. At a standstill the motor spins up like a two-stroke and on the move the R1’s ability to accelerate, no matter where you are in the revs is astonishing.

Yamaha - R1

History of YZF-R1
The 1999 R1 saw only minor changes apart from paint and graphics. Notable improvements were a redesigned gear change linkage and the gear change shaft length which was increased for better gear shifting. Fuel tank reserve capacity was reduced from 5.5 l (1.2 imp gal; 1.5 US gal) to 4.0 l (0.88 imp gal; 1.1 US gal), while the total fuel tank capacity was unchanged at 18 l (4.0 imp gal; 4.8 US gal). As high-performance motorcycle engines have grown more powerful, it’s become difficult to harness that power through the small contact patch on the rear tire. In 2000, Yamaha introduced a series of changes to improve the bike, plus minor changes to the body work to allow for better long duration ride handling.

A new fuel injection system was introduced for the 2002 year, which worked like a carburetor by employing a CV carburetor slide controlled by vacuum created by the engine. With a similar power output to the 2000-2001 bike, the engine was remained largely the same. Also in 2002, Yamaha released the newly developed “Deltabox III” frame, which, with its hydro formed construction, dramatically reduced the total number of frame welds, thereby greatly improving the frame’s strength and torsional rigidity.

YZF-R1

The 2004 R1 produces a stated 172 hp (128 kW) at the crankshaft (excluding ram air,180 hp (130 kW) with ram air) and also weighs 172 kilograms (dry). The conventional front brake calipers were replaced by radially-mounted calipers, activated by a radial master cylinder. Also newly added for this year was a factory installed steering damper. Combined with the changes to the frame, it helped to eliminate the tendency of the handlebars to shake violently during rapid acceleration or more so during deceleration on downgrade and less-than-perfect surfaces (aka “tank slapping”).

In 06, Yamaha is now rated with 180 hp (130 kW) at the flywheel. In addition, the swingarm was extended 20 mm longer due to acceleration instability. Also, in 2006 the 50th anniversary of Yamaha racing in America, Yamaha released the limited edition version in original Yamaha racing colors.

Yamaha-R1 in Action

An all-new YZF-R1 for the 2007 model year was announced on 8 October, 2006. Key features include an all-new inline four-cylinder engine; going back to a more conventional 4-valve per cylinder rather than Yamaha’s trade mark 5-valve genesis layout.

Yamaha YZF R1

In 2009, Yamaha has unveiled the 2009 YZF-R1. The 2009 R1 also features D-Mode variable throttle control, allowing the rider to adjust performance characteristics to suit the riding conditions and their intentions. Standard mode is mapped for optimum performance, however the rider can also select from A Mode for sportier response low to mid-speed range, and B Mode for subtler response in situations that demand sensitive throttle work.

Also new for 2009 is the inclusion of D-MODE variable throttle control function that enables the rider to adjust performance characteristics to match a variety of riding conditions.

Yamaha R1 Big Bang 2009

Handling is improved by a new, more advanced chassis. Control filled die-cast frame rails are used to balance high vertical rigidity with low lateral rigidity, enabling increased stability in cornering and high speed stability.

Visually the new R1 breaks new ground leading with twin projector beam headlights concentrated near newly placed forced air intake ducts. The sculpted body work features inner and outer shells controlling airflow around the bike at high speeds and forcing more cool air to the radiator and engine bay while eliminating the need for hot-air vents usually located at the sides of the radiator. The most striking visual change to the 2009 R1 is the twin project beam headlights, sitting free of any sort of lens covering. Directly above and behind each light are the forced air intake ducts, which by being integrated with the overall headlight design, allows for a smoother form in design.
Ahaa…..So finally the wait is over and Bajaj has announced the launch date for much awaited Kawasaki Ninja 250R, it is going to be launched on 7th October 2009 and available for purchasing before Deepawali. But we can’t compare this baby Ninja with Yamaha R15 and Karizma ZMR because in comparison of these Kawasaki Ninja has very expansive as it will have 1.75 Lakh to 2 Lakh rupees on road price. It is an entry level sports motorcycle with a fairing made further as if an actual off-road sports bike. To save custom duties Bajaj will import the Ninja 250R in CKD form from Thailand. The Top speed of the Baby Ninja is 160-180 Km/h. And the average fuel consumption is 25-35 km/liter.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R Street-King Reborn

Looks of Kawasaki Ninja 250R
If we were to rate the looks of the old Kawasaki ninja then we will give 6 out of 10 but the new Kawasaki Ninja truly deserve 10 out of 10, That because lovely fairing from the bigger Ninja 650R, petal discs, pillion seat cover, good looking upswept exhaust, awesome alloys, everything lends it own bit to make this 250R look the best in its class.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R

Engine & Transmission
Kawasaki Ninja 250R is powered by a 249cc liquid cooled, parallel twin, DOHC petrol engine which develops maximum power of 30 Bhp at 10500 rpm with maximum torque of 21 Nm at 9500 rpm. The old Kawasaki Ninja did top the 140-160 km/h mark and Newer one will atleast do 160-180 km/h. The engine of Ninja 250R has been tuned to deliver smooth, step-free power with an emphasis on low- and mid-range power for rider-friendly response. The silky smooth 6-speed Gearbox features involute splines reduce friction and backlash between gears and shafts for easier gear meshing and smooth shifting under power. Also with spring-type clutch damper reduces jerkiness at very low speeds and minimizes shocks when rolling on and off the throttle for a smoother clutch feel.

Chassis and Breaks of Kawasaki Ninja 250R
The Kawasaki Ninja 250R’s fairing has very new look and windscreen not only look great, they deliver improved wind protection for a wide range of riding situations. This lightweight sport bike infact have much more rider-friendly features such as an easy-to-read instrument panel and positive neutral finder.

HAYABUSA
The Suzuki Hayabusa really has to be experienced to be appreciated. Quite simply, there is nothing else like it. The Suzuki Hayabusa (also known as the GSX1300R in some countries) is a hyper sport motorcycle originally introduced by Suzuki in 1999. It has a 1,298 cc (79.2 cu in) inline-4 engine and was consistently tested as the fastest production motorcycle in the world before. The engine of a Hayabusa is a masterpiece, and the gearbox and clutch great. In ever sense hayabusa is motorcycling legend. The performance is Accessible. And also hayabusa has Great pillion grab-rail.

Suzuki Hayabusa- Its a Hurricane

History of Hayabusa
The name Hayabusa translates directly from the Japanese as Peregrine Falcon, The bird is said to be capable of speeds of over 200 mph (320 km/h) — and predator of (perhaps not coincidentally) the common blackbird .Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird as the fastest production motorcycle which was introduced in 1999. GSX1300R was the first generation of Hayabusa. Competition in the hyper sport bike segment increased with the release of motorcycles like the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 and BMW K1200S.

Suzuki GSXR 1300 Hayabusa

This increased competition led to Suzuki heavily revising the GSX1300R for the 2008 model year. Fuel is now fed through a pair of new 44 mm (1.7 in) Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) throttle bodies. The Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS), a technology introduced on the GSX-R line of motorcycles, provides three options of power delivery for a range of touring to wide open high performance. Some of the more notable features include a new 4-2-1-2 exhaust system meets Euro 3 and EPA Tier 2 emission regulations, a slipper clutch, and redesigned bodywork.

An Introduction of Yamaha YZF-R125
The introduction of the YZF-R125 is a sound strategic move by Yamaha on two levels. First, it delivers to European youth a legal ride that looks like the supersport and literbike racers they yearn for. Second, given that the riding demographic in Europe is aging, as it is in the U.S., it taps Yamaha into the valuable youth market. Who knows how many future R6 and R1 purchases will be made because maturing riders develop a lifelong Yamaha loyalty due to the trusty little 125 they began their two-wheeled career on. In this sense, the major manufacturers cannot afford to ignore the 125 market in Europe.

YZX-R125 Black

Features of YZF-R125
The YZF-R125 is the most advanced super-sport machine that Yamaha has ever built. The new Yamaha is a fuel injected, liquid-cooled 124.6cc Single, with four valves and SOHC. The 125 is an under square design, with a 52mm bore and 58.6mm stroke. With a compression ratio of 11.2:1 the YZF-R125’s Single produces claimed peak numbers of 14.75 horsepower at 9,000rpm and 9 lb-ft of torque at 8,000rpm. This radical, high-revving, fuel-injected 125 is the work of the same engineers who created yamaha’s best bike’s YZF-R1 and YZF-R6 super-sport bikes. And, as you’d expect, the YZF-R125 is packed with advanced Moto-GP technology as well as a whole range of R-series type engine and chassis features. The YZF R125, a 125cc bike is a previous option to its elderly YZF R15. The 125cc bike produces an incredible 15bhp and torque of 12Nm. And like the R15, the R125 will also be coming in 6-speed transmission.

The YZF R125 is launched in some countries like Israel and others countries in Europe. And will be launch in India is Expected Early 2009. And the expected price of this bike will be of Rs.90000/-.

Conclusion
Hero Honda’s New Karizma ZMR Fi comes packed with more power, more style and more aggression but the new model leaves us expecting for more!! Hero Honda should a lesson or two from Yamaha which had gone almost instinct in India in 2005 but with the launch R15, FZ-Series & Fazer they are back with a bang and grabbing the premium bike market share day by day. I may not have been biased towards Yamaha if Hero Honda had come up with a more powerful and better designed version of Karizma.

Karizma ZMR- front look

Though Karizma has always been very popular among bike enthusiasts as it is a highly capable bike and it was expected that Karizma Fi will going to take it a step further.
