Genelia D’Souza also known as Harini to close friends born on 5 August 1987 in England into a Mangalore Catholic family. She is an Indian film actress who appears in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu language films. Genelia is also very famous with her nickname Geenu and Cheenu. Geenu’s parents Neil D’Souza,

a senior official with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Jeanette D’Souza, formerly secretary to Managing Director with a pharma MNC. She has also a elder Brother in her family. Cheenu studied at the Apostolic Carmel High School in Bandra and then she joined St. Andrews College (Bandra) to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree of Management Studies. Genelia was also a National level Football player and State level athlete.

Genelia started her career in the year 2003 with three movies – first one was Hindi movie TUJHE MERI KASAM opposite Ritesh Deshmukh another one is the Tamil movie BOYS and the third one is the Telugu movie SATYAM opposite Sumanth. Hindi Movie Tujhe Meri Kasam, which was a remake of Telugu movie Nuvve Kavali and saw an average response. Tamil Movie Boys, on the other hand, which was a hit, as was Satyam. After that Cheenu doing several movies which built her popularity and raised her profile in south India. She acted in successful telugu films like SAMBA, HAPPY and SYE. She followed

it up with a pairing with actor Venkatesh in Subhash Chandra Bose which met with disappointment at the box-office. But in the year 2008 she has again appeared a golden come back in bollywood with moderately successful movie Priyadarshan’s MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP alongside Akshaye Khanna. And then Cheenu got her final breakthrough in Bollywood was through the blockbuster and the year’s hit JAANE TU YA JAANE NA. In this movie Geenu has a role of Aditi Mahant aka “Meow”. Her role has been widely admired for her sweetness and freshness, and new style of acting. And now her latest movie is a Telugu film READY in which she was paired opposite Ram was a super hit and a Hindi movie titled LIFE PARTNER with Fardeen Khan which is running successfully in theaters.
Genelia D’Souza upcoming movies are It’s MY LIFE with Harman Baweja is to be released in 2009. She will also act in David Dhawan’s movie HOOK YA CROOK opposite John Abraham and Shreyas Talpade for the first time which is a cricket film, the film will be released in 2009. Geenu also now becomes the brand ambassador of the new Fanta replacing the bollywood princess Rani Mukherjee. And also the brand ambassador of chocolate Perk replacing the heart of bollywood Preity Zinta. She now holds a distinct Limca world record of delivering 4 different super hit films in 4 different languages (Satya (Kannada), Santosh Subramaniyam (Tamil), Ready (Telugu) and Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Naa (Hindi)) in span of 1 calendar year.
